1 Apr 2019 The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Nuclear Energy Futures aims to train a new generation of international leaders, at PhD level,  Join the next generation of nuclear scientists and engineers with a fully-funded CDT PhD in Nuclear Energy - GREEN - a collaboration between five universities.

Sponsored by AWE part of the Nuclear Energy Futures CDT with Imperial College London, the University of Cambridge, the Open University, the University of Bristol and Bangor University. This PhD project supports the Nuclear Forensics (Provenance) programme through the understanding and characterisation of the effects of radioactive ageing on Assessment includes an oral examination, which can assess the candidate's knowledge of the broader field of nuclear energy acquired from the integrated training and site visits. To progress to PhD study, students are expected normally to have satisfactory supervision reports in all three terms. The Nuclear Energy Futures CDT places student experience at the heart of the programme. They listen to your research interests and link you to stimulating PhD projects supported by a team of industry and academic experts. Owing to the breadth of the CDT and the wide range of industry sponsors involved they can support PhD projects in: Researchers in our CDT will carry out research that underpins the safe and extended operation of existing reactors and the future development of safe, secure and sustainable new build nuclear power plants in addition to back end research on spent fuel, decommissioning and waste management. The Centre focuses on key challenges for the industry such as reducing costs of both nuclear waste disposal and building new nuclear power stations. It also looks at future power station designs and fusion power.
